Business Issues Pyramid diagram

"My site's not working"

Most sites you look at have not been designed to attract traffic - many designers forget that sites have to be designed to be read by the search engine robots as well as human beings.

So you need the right text - called keywords - in the right place on the site to attract the attention of the search engines. A quick glance at the site lets us know whether your site has been build with this in mind - or not. Learn how to do this yourself at our Workshop on 7th May - £77

And once you have got someone to the site it has to deliver a result for you. Every page is a step in a sales process and it has to encourage your customer to engage with you and move onwards towards an eventual sale.

We believe there are only 3 outcomes you want page and these are.

"I want results from my site"

So it needs to be found and it needs to be attractive. Being attractive is visual - but being found is a verbal process. Align your pages with the phrases people use to talk about your product or service and you can't go wrong.

Brainstorm and test. The cheapest most powerful research tool at your disposal is Google Ad-words. It will help you brainstorm - and it will help you test. Then the words need to be put in headlines, in the page title - and in the anchor text of links that point to your site. You have no idea of how many sites we look at where these simple principles are ignored.

This is like branding. We are trying to own a phrase - not only in the mind of the customer but in the mind of Google.

It's all in the diagram - get your story into key-words, test them and drive traffic to your site by writing on line in blogs and social media and use the tagging and linking routines to establish your key words with your site in Google's mind. That's how you climb the organic search rankings. And that, plus some good links from good sites is how you get found. And if your landing page has an easy to understand call to action - you're home and dry.

If you follow these rules, you can make a lot of headway without a lot of cost. Running a test ad-words campaign will cost between £100 and £500 - and you'll get some traffic out of it too.

What we can do for you

We can sell you an internet marketing e-book or you can attend an internet marketing workshop if you want to learn in a group with some individual attention.

We can carry out a web-site review for you and tell you need to do to make a difference. We can do this remotely and hold a video conference discussion with you to explain why we think what we do.

We can help you get started because we can set up an adwords campaignn, doing some preliminary work, train you up how to do it and hand the project over to you once you're happy that you're self sufficient. And we can do the same to help you get started in blogging or in how to use social media. If you want help with your overall strategic marketing then we have various workshops and consultancy offerings to support. Or if you want a new web-site designer we can help you there too.

New e-book - 21 Business Stories. Takes all we've found out and presents it as 21 engaging slices of business life, covering marketing, monitoring, people, raising finance and above all tracking how you're doing. Only £9.40. You can buy it here.
